Trunki - the ride-along suitcase

I haven't written a review in years and years, but after we've used the Trunki for 3 plane trips with the kids, I have come to consider it worth the expense. And if we traveled by plane with the children more than once a year, I would consider buying another one.

We bought the Trunki just before we brought Lia and Desi by plane to Legaspi in 2009. That time Desi couldn't really walk yet, so Lia rode and Desi was carried. It was convenient at the Manila airport, but not as much in the Legaspi airport on our way back since it was so small and there wasn't a lot of walking. I thought then it was a waste of money.

But after we used it going to Boracay last December, and to Davao just last weekend, I must say, I'm glad we had the Trunki. Especially when it was just me and one Yaya with three small children (not to mention tickets and terminal fees and removing your shoes at the Xrays) to contend with.

For the most part, Lia and Desi are big enough to walk everywhere. But Ramon would have gotten tired, and his short legs would never have been able to keep up. So with the Trunki, we were able to pull him along everywhere on NAIA Terminal 3, even all the way to the plane or from the plane to the airport. While waiting at the Gate for our flight, the kids liked giving each other rides on it. Ramon LOVES riding the Trunki. When Desi wanted a turn, he cried that we carried him instead. It's like having a stroller at the airport without the hassle of having a stroller because really, it's a suitcase. It doubles as a container for milk bottles, extra nappies, toys and other necessities. It easily stows away in the overhead bin.

When we bought it 3 years ago (in SM), it only came in two colors. Now there are so many designs! I saw one that looked like a monster with horns. Agh! If my kids weren't soon to outgrow riding around in the airport I would totally buy another one. We love the Trunki. If you travel often enough with two or more small kids, it's a good buy.
