We ventured out of the house again last Sunday. Much to her Lola Vinchu's joy, Mike and I brought Lia to visit my family in Katipunan where all her titos and tita gathered round to watch her sleep. Her daddy bought her a car seat, in which she rode the whole way from our Makati to Quezon City. She didn't look too comfortable (see the little frown on her face) but we took comfort in the knowledge that this is the safest way to travel with a baby in a car. Anyway, she didn't really complain. She was, as expected, asleep the whole time.
While in Katipunan, everyone gathered in my parents' bedroom (except my Dad, he went to Pampanga and returned when it was nearly time for them to hear mass) to watch my baby sleep. I had realized we had forgotten to bring a camera when we were in the car already, but as it happens, two phone cameras and one big nikon busily documented her dozing while we were there. I just stole these photos from my brother Norman's photo collection. And while we were there, and she was sleeping on her tummy, she moved her head to face the other direction FOR THE FIRST TIME! She can raise her head! What a strong baby. When she starts crawling, it will be so exciting, but we'll be in big trouble then.
That was basically it. We stayed a couple of hours and then headed home. We didn't go to St. Ignatius yet (My Nana's house, where the whole clan gets together every Sunday). I figured we should take it slow, and let Lia have another vaccination shot before exposing her to LOTS of people. Let's say the Katipunan trip was just practice. Next week, if Dr. Tito Jojo says it's ok, we'll visit Nana in St. Ig.
For now, well, yesterday evening Mike noticed her butt was red and sure enough, we have a case of diaper rash on our hands. He immediately ran out to get some Vandol and we've been putting it on her butt since. So far, it's only caused her to be a little more fussy, a little more difficult to put to sleep. But she allowed Mommy a couple of hours on the internet this afternoon, so all things considered, we're doing ok.
